The Middle School production of Disney Newsies Jr. transported audiences to 1899 New York City, where young newspaper-sellers, known as the "newsies,” take on a corrupt mogul to fight for fair wages. The cast also featured students from Laurel, Hathaway Brown, and Onaway Elementary.
The cast and crew of Newsies Jr. brought the show to life under the direction of Mrs. Samantha Pierce, Middle School Arts Chair and Drama Teacher, and by Mr. Tom Bonezzi, Middle School Music Teacher, assisted by Ms. Beth Herdering, Middle School Learning Specialist, and Ms. Morgan Sims, First Grade Teacher, with set construction by Mr. Chris Croftcheck, Middle School Design Teacher.
The show’s success was a testament to the dedication of the 44-member cast and eight-person crew, who rehearsed nearly every day since December. With sessions five days a week, growing to three-hour rehearsals leading up to the opening night, their commitment shone through every scene, note, and dance move.
