Seniors Named 2021 National Merit Scholar

The National Merit Scholarship® Program has announced that seniors Ethan Jiang and Peter Bambakidis have been named National Merit Scholars, each earning a scholarship funded by National Merit Scholarship Corporation! 

Ethan is among 1,000 first-round Merit Scholars chosen from more than 16,000 distinguished Finalists in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program.

From approximately 1.5 million students who entered the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program when they took the 2019 Preliminary SAT, only about 17,000 students were named Semifinalists. To advance in the competition and be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, a Semifinalist had to become a Finalist by fulfilling several requirements that included submitting a detailed scholarship application and presenting a record of very high academic performance. Additional National Merit Scholars will be announced in June and July.
