Cruikshank House seniors participated in the inspiring Newcomer Day of Dignity event, delivering essential items and volunteering to support over 400 households. The experience provided a unique opportunity for our students to connect with families from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds, demonstrating that kindness and compassion are universal languages.
As part of their Communities theme, second-grade boys held a walk/runathon. Thanks to their hard work and determination, they raised an incredible $1,700, which will go toward providing essential products for seniors with disabilities in our area. Earlier in the fall, the boys visited these residents of the MARC apartments and after some initial shyness, had some wonderful conversations. The boys will continue to visit these residents throughout the year.
As part of the new eighth-grade capstone project about food insecurity, our eighth-grade boys joined forces with the Co-Head of House, Mr. Montanye, to pack food collected during the House Thanksgiving food drive. These efforts resulted in over 40 boxes of food being prepared for distribution to families in need this holiday season. This hands-on experience complements our boys’ collaborative research on food insecurity in Northeast Ohio, deepening their understanding of the issue while making a tangible impact in the local community.
